Voice + Rasas, this intensive workshop will combine two of the most effective techniques that actors seek from KB Studio. The Voice/De-structuring work is often referred as ‘the missing piece’ in the actor's process and the Rasas are considered ‘the Game-Changer’. Combining these in one workshop is a great opportunity for actors who wish to prepare themselves for their acting in the New Year. The workshop is open to actors of all levels and will be limited to 16 participants.
About the Voice Work: The De-structuring/Re-structuring technique is a transformational approach to the voice in which actors release ‘body armor’- physical and energetic tensions that restrict the flow of the breath, vocal resonance, and emotions. Through this holistic work, actors experience greater authenticity in their voice- an organic connection between the voice and the thoughts/experiences of the characters they are playing. This technique is ideal for actors who desire to have their voice be a truly supportive part of their acting.
About Rasa Aesthetics: Rasa Aesthetics is a Physical Approach to Acting that comes from the Ancient Indian text- the Natyasastra- which describes the Rasas as the ‘Essence of the Art of Acting’. The word ‘Rasa’ means Flavor and—in this technique—the actors must not only be seen but ‘tasted’- or experienced- by the audience. Participants will explore ‘Embodying’ each of the 8 Rasas and learn a range of ways to apply them to scene work and character development. This technique gives actors a process for making powerful and authentic choices in their acting.
